What is the role
In the Discovery Health Intelligence unit, our core purpose is “creating intelligence for a healthier tomorrow” by leveraging Discovery’s vast data to drive valuable insights to improve both clinical and operational environments. Key to our purpose is obtaining and structuring quality data, leveraging cutting edge analytical innovations and delivering actionable insights in a sustainable and meaningful way. We leverage an integrated, collaborative, and multidisciplinary approach to ensure our objectives and goals are met.
The role will entail being responsible for technical healthcare actuarial/statistical analysis, ranging from regular monitoring reports, all the way to detailed and innovative investigations for various initiatives. The job entails applying advanced statistical and analytical, in the healthcare context, to the clinical analysis of claims data to deepen understanding of the experience for guiding appropriate interventions to ensure sustainability through improvement of efficiency and quality of care. You will be expected to deliver clear and reliable results on tight and high pressured deadlines at times.
What you will do
The successful applicant will be working within a highly specialized and growing team to enable delivery of advanced analytics capability.
Responsibilities will include:
- Mining large structured and unstructured datasets to find new insights to inform healthcare efficiency and interaction strategies
- Present data and model findings in a way that provides actionable insights
- Technical analysis and reporting deliverables produced by the analytics unit
- Producing regular monitoring reports, as well as detailed investigations
- Connecting with a multitude of stakeholders to understand the data, systems, and analytical architecture in a healthcare context
- Research and application of the most up to date analytics, machine learning and AI techniques
- Work with a range of stakeholders to ensure to present and apply insights effectively in the environment
- Improve processes and analytical outcomes where opportunities arise
- Working across different healthcare knowledge areas of value based care, patient and population health management, core reporting, provider profiling with a focus on data and analytics
This role may have international exposure and include rapid growth to coordinate analytical teams to deliver cut edge healthcare analytics.

Professional Qualifications & Experience
- Honours or Master’s degree in either Data Science, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics OR Qualified Actuary
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in analytics and data is preferred
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in healthcare is preferred OR deep knowledge in the healthcare space
