Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) – Gauteng region academy – GCR Academy
The GCR Academy is a branch within the Gauteng Department of Education set up to build relevant knowledge, skills, and talent in order to reduce the high unemployment rate. One of the key focus areas is in the management of bursaries, learnerships, and internships for young people. The bursaries are targeted matriculants from non-fee paying schools within Gauteng.
GCRA is responsible for building a pool of skilled, capable and ethical workforce for the Gauteng City Region. This is done through different interventions, i.e., bursaries, internships, learnerships, skills programmes, etc.
The GCRA bursary programme is open to all qualifying youth, with particular preference given to youth from Gauteng, who wish to study for an undergraduate and/or post-graduate programme at an accredited and registered Post School Education and Training institution in South Africa. The bursary covers the full cost of study, with conditions, as stipulated in the bursary contract.

Who Can Apply
Beneficiaries must meet the minimum admission requirements for entry into FET college or higher education institutions in Gauteng province. The bursaries are targeted matriculants from non-fee-paying schools within Gauteng.
Bursary Levels: Year 12
Value: Bursaries cover amongst others, tuition fees, books accommodation, and meals. Learners who receive bursaries will be eligible for internship opportunities within the Gauteng Provincial Government and other strategic partners in the province.
