After the primary school opened in 1906, there was a growing need for for the senior classes instruction must be given. In 1916 the necessary protection was obtained and the senior secondary phasegradually expanded so that in 1922 there were already a few st. 9 pupils were.The need for its own high school meant that in 1923 a delegation led by Rev. Eybers, father of ElisabethEybers, the poetess, went to the education department to request that Schweizer-Reneke get his own high school. However, there were various problems that hampered this ideal, including the number of pupils not having their own school. did not justify and the transportation problem since donkeys were used at the time.Eventually it was decided that a school farm was the solution. The town council has 698 ha. gift and in June 1940 the oldboys’ residence and houses on the premises completed. However, the status of the school farm was lower than that of a high school and manyparents were therefore dissatisfied and still set a high school as ideal, but it would remain a long cherished dream. Howeverthere was continued fighting for this cause.Only in 1951 did the excavation of the foundations begin and on 8 January 1952 285 pupils were led of the principal, mr. Streicher and 14 teachers occupy the new school building and are the cornerstone of the new girls’ residencegelê. In 1957, the new boys’ residence was completed.The school changed to a parallel medium school in 2010 and today we have about 400 learners.Schweizer-Reneke High School has therefore come a long and difficult way to be established. So let’s appreciate whatothers’ effort and build on our school’s beautiful traditions.
