About University of Cape Town UCT Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment
EBE has a deputy dean that is dedicated specifically to transformation and social responsiveness within our Faculty. In addition to this, we have a fully constituted Transformation Committee – comprised of academics,PASS staff and students – who work alongside the undergraduate and postgraduate student councils. Together
they organize activities, competitions and events that extend transparent communications, promote staff development, offer culturally sensitive programmes and ultimately foster an environment that provides genuine care for all. The Transformation Committee develop realistic employment equity plans, they advertise a variety of opportunities for all and regularly encourage staff and students to learn an additional language.
The artworks that can be viewed in our New Engineering Building, have been purposefully curated to represent the talents of local African artists. All the signage on display in our buildings reflect three of our official South African languages to ensure that our Faculty is as welcoming as possible for our staff, students and visitors
