Job Purpose
In line with the Nedbank Group’s strategy of being world class at reporting, planning and control, the key purpose of this role is to prepare high quality financial statements in terms of IFRS, free from misstatement and error. To drive insightful analytics – Ongoing and continuous financial statement analysis is required on monthly financials and management accounts of segmental and the 3 financial statement levels.
Job Responsibilities
- Preparation of annual financial statements:
- Prepare financial statements notes bi-annually
- Monthly financial statement note analysis
- Prepare separates annual financial statements
- Interrogate financial statement monthly to spot errors/misstatements and provide insightful analytics
- Work closely with all areas of the Bank to gather financial statement data
- End to end reporting on statement of changes in equity
- Be proactive to business developments and how they impact financial statement
- Automation of reporting
- Through the use of available analytic tools – drive insightful analytics
- Trace transaction to source and understand the integrity of data
- Presenting financial information in a meaningful way
- Understand and support key processes including (RAPM/Intercompany/Group/Eliminations/Consolidations).
- Engagement with external auditors to ensure completeness of the year-end and interim annual financial results processes.
- Perform analysis, reports and other analysis on monthly, quarterly and annual actual and budgeting/planning results.
- Coordinating the month end process and timelines – engage with clusters, compare expectations vs actual results, pass corrections
- Monitor month end controls and that they are cleared before the financial statement close process
- Implement controls to strengthen the financial statement reporting process
- Group consolidations – perform Group accounting for dividends and equity items
- Corrections of the monthly results via correcting journal entries
- Perform the pension fund accounting, engage with actuaries, prepare the analysis of the pension fund numbers etc.
- Involvement in Group Financial Control and Nedbank, group-wide projects and ad-hoc initiatives
- Know and understand BPC functionality to assist wider team
- Assist Group Financial Control in driving a strong values-based culture, while maintaining the cluster as a ‘great place to work’ and a highly desired destination for others across the bank.
- Play an integral role as part of the Group Financial Control team by setting and encouraging high standards of delivery and performance, integration, collaboration, and teamwork, and achieving desired culture standards aligned to Nedbank’s vision and values.

Essential Qualifications – NQF Level
- Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

- Power BI or similar (preferrable)
