The School of Journalism and Media Studies is looking for dynamic scholar who is grounded in communication studies to contribute to the academic project of the School as set out in its vision statement. As part of this, to participate in producing self-reflexive graduates and media workers whose practice is probing, imaginative, civic minded and outspoken. To contribute to the fields of knowledge and the social environment in which the school is based. To do all of this through teaching, research, community engagement and media production with a focus on communication practice as it manifests in all levels of society.

In line with legislation governing employment of foreign nationals, employment contracts will be offered on the basis that a development plan would be implemented for the transfer of skills to a South African resident. The onus is on candidates to ensure that they are in possession of a valid work permit before the commencement of employment at the University, failing which the employment with Rhodes University will be terminated.

Senior Lecturer
- Annual Basic salary: R631,639.00 per annum
- Approximate annual cost to company: R899,440.00 per annum
Associate Professor
- Annual Basic salary: R751,736.00 per annum
- Approximate annual cost to company: R1,067,269.00 per annum
