The Wits Business School (WBS) is internationally recognized and accredited. It has spearheaded innovation, teaching and research excellence in South African and African business for over 50 years. The school is based in the economic hub of South Africa and is in easy proximity of the country’s most vibrant cities. Our faculty come from 12 different countries, are predominantly African, but are also from the US, UK, Holland and Germany. 95% of our full-time faculty are PhD qualified, and all of our full professors are NRF rated researchers.
We have around 1400 postgraduate students each year and significantly more executive education delegates. The school is at the center of regular media events and topical debates showcasing opinion leadership from both business and academia.
In recognition of the urgent need to address Africa’s challenges in providing sustainable access to energy for all its people, Wits Business School (WBS) established the African Energy Leadership Centre (AELC) in 2017. The mandate of the AELC is to develop the next generation of leaders in the African energy space. We have three pillars that support our mandate, namely: providing short courses and postgraduate qualifications (a postgraduate diploma, a Master’s and a PhD) in Energy Leadership; research and thought leadership, and networking seminars. The AELC is led by an experienced director, senior staff and an executive committee, who are responsible for the daily operations of the Centre and the implementation of its strategy.
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer, as part of the AELC team. This is a full-time, 3-year contract, based in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate is expected to work closely with fellow academics, postgraduate students and senior executives to deliver highly rated learning, higher degree supervision (Master’s and PhD level), world class research, and opinion leadership on business-critical issues in the energy sector.
Requirements:
- A PhD in a relevant field of study (Engineering, Energy studies, Technology management, and related fields), ideally accompanied by a business-related qualification such as an MBA, MBL etc.
- A proven track record of leadership in the Energy sector is a MUST, plus a proven track record of effective teaching at post-graduate levels.
- Successful supervision of Master’s and PhD candidates, 5 years’ experience in academia and appropriate contribution to administration is a requirement.
- At least 5 accredited journal publications in the last 3 years in ISI and IBSS journals.
