Job Purpose
The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for a competent and suitably qualified individual to promote the production of affordable, nutritious, safe and accessible food, fibre and agricultural products, through the execution of relevant research and technology development to alleviate poverty and hunger by caring for sheep flocks. This post is based in Stellenbosch.
Minimum Requirements
An appropriate 3 year National Diploma in Animal Science or equivalent qualification; Compulsory registration with SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) as a Certificated Natural Scientist in the appropriate field of practice; 3 years post qualification small stock research experience; A valid (Code EB or higher) driving licence.

Remuneration
- Grade A: R 326 031 – R 347 925 per annum;
- Grade B: R 369 279 – R 398 082 per annum;
- Grade C: R 420 318 – R 495 099 per annum (as per OSD prescripts)
Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD) are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
